English 4 is the last english course required in North Carolina public education for graduation. Based on North Carolina State Standards and Wake County's 4 C's, this course is designed to build skills in reading, writing, speaking, and language usage for future careers and higher education. The overarching goal of the course is to complete a close examination of British Literature across time and its influence on the development of literature. In addition, this course aims to build necessary skills for success and to equip students to be life-long learners.

Texts
We will be reviewing a variety of texts, print and non-print, including fiction, poetry, nonfiction, drama, and film in order to expand our understandings of British Literature and its influence. Texts are subject to change throughout the year depending on level, time constraints, and availability. The main texts are: Macbeth, The Canterbury Tales, Beowulf, and 1984.
Expectation
As a senior level course, it is expected that students have a solid foundation to build upon in the following skills: organization MLA citation literature analysis vocabulary Students are also expected to check PowerSchool and this website regularly for updates, assignments, grades, and resources.
